This is a little card I make a week or two ago, but I haven't had much time for posting. I know I used a sketch, but I can't remember where it came from! Sorry! I promise to give credit if I figure that out! I inked this cutie up the day my order came in from Diana!

Magnolia Family Album

I received my copy of the latest Magnolia Ink magazine a couple weeks back. If you have seen it, there was a contest for making a family project representing your family in Magnolia images. Today I am sharing my project. I worked hard to get it submitted, but every time I sent the email, it would come back a day later saying it couldn't be sent, the mailbox was too full. I was never sure until the magazine arrived if they ever really got it. Since it wasn't published, I can share it with you here.

When I first read the contest request I immediately thought of the old tin-type photographs in the beautiful little metal folios lined with velvet. That is what I tried to recreate here.

I had great fun altering Edwin to be bald, because my husband is balding!


My daughter is in the purple dress, I am in the pink one, and
the image I used for my son and my husband is the same
Edwin, I just altered it and drew my own bald head.

It was difficult to photograph the depth inside the folio.
The family poem came from my scrapbooking days!
I colored all of the images with my Copics,
cut them out,
and mounted them at various distances off the background.

A Second Tilda for the Day

When I made the Chocolate Tilda, I had originally planned to use the card for the Just Magnolia challenge, but I got carried away with the flowers, so I didn't quite make the recipe. Means I needed to make another card! This morning I sat at my desk, looked at the challenges that I could meet, and this is the card I came up with:

Recipe Card--Ice Cream Layer Cake

If you participated in the summer recipe card swap on the Magnolia-licious blog, and you want to be surprised, don't read this post!

It has been horrendously hot here in the Northeast for the past week, and being made out of chocolate, I don't do well in the heat! This is a yummy recipe that even the kids can make! It is messy no matter what, and that makes it look oh so tasty! I am sorry that I was not able to make this calorie-free, but feel like a little kid and enjoy!! That is just what Tilda did, and she inspired me to use ice cream colors for this card.

The papers are from SEI, "Claire." I like my recipe cards to have a fairly slim profile so they can slip into a plastic sleeve, so I added some old buttons, and paper flowers, plus the yummy pink velvet ribbon! If I could have glued on sprinkles, I would have done that too!

Christmas in July

Welcome to the new week! We are fortunate here in the States, today is the official Fourth of July holiday---meaning the day you get off of work---a bonus holiday, so to speak!
I have been working on a couple of cards, and this Christmas-themed card is one of them.

I had planned this for the challenge at A Spoonful of Sugar (animal), but they changed the submission deadline, and I didn't know it until it was too late.

Anyway, this was a fun card to make, sitting in the air conditioning of my craft nook on a sultry hot July fourth! I love how my die cutter made the window, and I was able to do a monochrome scheme with my papers and my Copics.
Of course I Stickled around the window frame with "Star Dust."
The sentiment stamps are both from Stampin Up!
I love the patterned paper from Momenta--"The Story of Us."
The snowflakes were stamped with Weathered Wood Distress Ink, and the image was stamped with Memento, Tuxedo Black.
The brads came from my stash.


I jazzed up the inside, as a little surprise when you open the card:


This Tilda stamp should be available from the Magnolia-licious Store--the puppy is not Magnolia, he is from Stampcraft.

Two Fun Cards

Today is being hailed as one of the top 10 days of the year here in Connecticut, and I would have to concur! It is warm, sunny, but not too warm because of the light breeze wafting through through windows. I have 2 great cards to share with you. First, there is the beautiful tent card my daughter made for a friend as a graduation gift. It is based on the tutorial from the Whiff of Joy Inspirations blog post titled "Punched Screen Card." I am so proud of the work she did, I had to share!

This beautiful butterfly with the Serenity Prayer
came from the rubber stamp show
we went to a couple of weeks ago. (Stamp Camp)
There are rhinestones, and pearls and dewdrops,
buttons, flowers and glitter.
The edges of all the punched pieces are
distressed with walnut ink.
we had great fun crafting together during her visit with us.
She is heading back to life in the convent on Sunday.

For my Maggie card, I have a sweet image that arrived from Susan at Killam Creative in her box of blog candy. I wanted to show off some of the goodies she included,
as well as to thank her again! THANKS SUSAN!

Susan gave me the lovely sunny yellow lace and flowers.
the sparkling stick pin, the little rhinestone flower centers and the purple flowers the rhinestones are decorating, in addition to this Tilda image!
She took the time to browse through my blog to find images I didn't seem to have...can you imagine how her thoughtfulness touched my heart?!

I colored Tilda with some Copics and some distress inks, and glitterated her with Stickles diamond dust--it gave a sun-shiny yellow glow to her halo, some of the yellow flowers and to the edges of the golden scalloped oval. Her socks and dress have Stardust Stickles.

I tried to give you a close up to see some of the
details a little better.

Hot, Hot, Hot and a Freebie!

We are heading into some pretty hot weather this Memorial Day weekend, and the challenge at the Just Magnolia blog is all about hot and spicy! Here is my take on hot, along with a whole cascade of flowers!

Challenges:

I used designer paper for the scallops.
All the paper flowers are plain cardstock and buttons, rhinestones and floss from my stash.
there is OODLES of glitter ans Stickles...had to take
a shower to rid myself of all the sparkles!
I was inspired by the red and yellow rose from Wild Orchid Crafts.



I colored "Tilda with Bow"with my Copics, and
made her bow match the ribbon on top of the cake.
Since the outside had so much going on, the inside is simple.

Just Magnolia Week 56 Challenge

My dear sweet husband asked me to do a card for a couple at work who are getting married in the near future. As he is always willing to do anything for me, this was more than a pleasure! Plus, I have a couple of challenges this will work for.

I had this image inked on the cold press watercolor paper from last month, when I made my anniversary card, and I was excited to try my Distress Inks again.

I am especially fond of using the Stickles "Stardust" on the veil!

My sentiment is computer-generated.
I like it so much, I am thinking of turning it into a rubber stamp.

Spring Recipe Card

Yesterday I received my cards from the Spring recipe card swap from the Magnolia-licious Yahoo Group! What a delightful thing, to find a package in the mail full of handmade recipe cards! My son was sick and home from school, and he had a minute when he passed out, so after taking him to the doctor (he has strep throat---feeling better today!) I wasn't thinking about the recipe cards that I had eagerly been awaiting! Not only did I receive beautiful cards, but I have new recipes to try out!


Today I am sharing my contribution to the swap. I didn't want to spoil the surprise, but now that the cards have been sent, here is Strawberry Pie Tilda!
I was so excited to find the cute little strawberry brad for embellishing (it's by Doodlebug)! I ran out of the ribbon that I used for the swap, so when I made my card, I used a slightly different ribbon. Tilda is done with my Copics, one of my first efforts. I pinched the flowers, because I wanted the embellishments to keep a somewhat low profile, so that the cards could fit into page protectors in an album...that is how I am planning to store them, and enjoy them!
I must say, this recipe is truly one of our family favorites! When I was barely a teenager, a neighbor shared this pie and recipe with us, and that was over 35 years ago! Yikes! I sound so old! Good thing you are only as young as you feel, and generally I feel a lot younger than my actual years! Maybe I keep young by coloring...more sophisticated technique than with the Crayolas of my childhood, but I still love it just as much!

A Mother's Day Card

Mother's Day is a bittersweet holiday for me. My Mom passed away 11 years ago on May 4th, so although I enjoy having my kids around and adore the special things they do for me, I am also missing my mom. I was also very close to my mother-in-law, and she passed almost 5 years ago, so I don't have much opportunity to make cards for this holiday.
This year I made a Tilda card to share with a dear friend, who recently moved to be closer to her daughter's family. I know she is so much enjoying her time with her grandsons, and I wanted to honor our friendship with a card. I hope you enjoy it.

My daughter will be home for the weekend today, and
"all my chickens will be in the nest!"
(We are also going to Ikea for the last couple of things for the craft alcove!)

Stamp Something Challenge

Good Morning again! This is too many posts in one day (tee-hee!) but if I don't get
this new little Tilda card entered into the drawing over for the Stamp Something Challenge today, I'll be too late!

I was drooling over the beautiful Distress Ink coloring over at Kim Piggot's blog yesterday, and I decided to to try it out again, now that I have some hot press watercolor paper. I think Tilda looks like she was out picking her flowers in sub-zero temps, but I'll work on my technique for faces as time goes on! Kim has a wonderful tutorial on her site, and there are a couple of others that have helped me on YouTube.

That little shimmery square of fabric behind Tilda is a sample from a company that sells flag-making supplies. I got it years ago when my daughter's Girl Scout troop was making a flag for a winter camping competition in which they participated. I save all sorts of random things!

Hot Pink, Orange and Purple

Sounds like a crazy bunch of colors, doesn't it? I guess that is why we call these "challenges!"

Creative Inspirations posted this challenge, and my initial reaction, before I saw the DT cards, was"WHAT?!" Take one look at the ideas they present, and you want to try it out for yourself, just like I did!

I went looking through my stash of papers, and I found one that had those colors! Who knew!
It even had gold glitter dots on it, and yesterday I had made 3 little wire flowers with a gold tone wire--appears to be a match made in heaven!

I colored Tilda with my Prismacolor pencils because I don't have Copics in the right colors.

a MS dual punch, "Dahlia" and then cut out from the cardstock.

Thinking outside of the box can make for some very beautiful cards!

Just for You Tilda Card

Indeed, I did some chores today! I ironed a week of dress shirts for my DH, washed two more loads, plus a load of towels, weeded one of my planters, and did a little packing of some things to make way for the new craft space. I also made a skirt for the trash can in the craft alcove. "Shabby Chic" is the theme, and the silver mesh pail was a little too industrial, so I dressed it up with a floral skirt.
I finally mentioned to my daughter that her dad is making me a space for my crafting in an area of the room she sleeps in (when she comes home). I thought that was a gentle way to make the break from "your room" to the "guest room." She seemed ok. She comes home for the weekend...we'll see what she says then!
Since I accomplished so much today, I was rewarded with some time to make a card. This little pink-and-brown number is for the CLP Challenge #25. I was quite taken by the sketch when I first saw it, and immediately planned to turn it.

Tilda and the Copics

Sounds like a rock band from the '60's, doesn't it?

I guess it has been a few days since I have posted a new Tilda...I have been busy making recipe cards for the swap that I signed up for on the Magnolia-licious group! It was a blast putting these together, and it is off to the post office first thing to send them on their way to Kay. I feel like a kid in a candy store waiting for the swap cards to arrive! Can you tell this is my first swap?
Anyway, my sweet hubby gave me a set of Copic markers after we returned from our Newport trip, and I wanted to get a little better at using them for the Tilda on the recipe cards. Here is one of my first attempts. The paper was all wrong, so things didn't go the greatest, but I made a little thank-you card using her. I didn't track which markers I used, but I will work on that for future postings.

Windblown Tilda

April can be a very unpredictable month around here. I'm speaking weather-wise! We have had some days in the 70's and 80's, but this weekend it had been cold and rainy. Kind of reminded me of this Tilda image, so I thought I would share this card.

Done in a simple style, I colored Tilda with Prismacolor pencils, added a couple of rectangles of designer papers (don't know where they are from offhand!), and a little oval tag with a Hero Arts sentiment.

It will warm up again...as Mark Twain always said:
"If you don't like the weather in New England, just wait a few minutes."

Day Dreams

What a beautiful day here in Connecticut! Before I head off to work, let me share a card I made for the Magnolia Down Under Challenge #41--"Old Days." The hardest part was coloring Tilda in shades of black, white, and gray! Whew! I used my Prismacolor pencils for "Jam Tilda."
The base for the card and the floral oval are from K & Co., Classic K Bailey. From Graphic 45 is the Daydreams paper ( Le Romantique Collection--"Daydreams") and the blue swirls is from the On the Boardwalk Collection--"She Sells Seashells." The pink eyelet is punched from Bazzills Basics. and the paper flowers were punched and inked, with buttons and pearls from around my stash.

Baby Card

After getting some wonderful inspiration from my blogger friend at Cards2Cherish (Thanks Pat!), I found a design for my first Tilda baby card. It came from Hanna at Hannas Hobbyblogg, the very talented 13 year old from Sweden with the most beautiful blog and cards. Here is a link to her sketch---check out her gorgeous cards while you are there!

Most of my papers were scraps, or unidentifiable papers, but the key was PINK! I added a little butter yellow for accent--pink and yellow are such a cheery combination! The baby is done with Distress Ink and Prismacolor pencil accents. the ivory paper rose came from A.C. Moore, along with some buttons and trims from my stash. I did some stitching, and some distressing on the edges, and a little Stickles accents for a little sparkle! This card only took a couple of hours...some of the others take so much longer, but I love it! I have also entered this in the Cute Card Thursday Challenge, "Mono Mania!"

Some days I spend too much time on the computer, surfing from one lovely blog to the next, and seeing all the beautiful cards and catching some fun tutorials. I hope to share more of those with you in the coming days.

Just Magnolia Week 49 Challenge

Last week, when the Just Magnolia Challenge was posted, I decided to google "card folding." I found a neat video here, and that is the basis for my card. You might want to watch the tutorial first, it will help you to understand all the folds in this unique card.

My husband Dan and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary on the 20th of this month, so I have been thinking a lot about weddings, brides and love! This card idea came to me immediately, and I was excited to use my new Bride and Groom stamp from Magnolia!

Here is the closed card. I stamped the letter "H" (for our last name) with a Top Boss embossing pad, and used silver embossing powder. The "H" is mounted on cream card stock.

Flip up the upper tab, open the card and you see the inside fold, onto which I mounted a "25" printed from the computer onto cream cardstock and distressed with black soot Distress Ink.

Open it all the way, and you see Tilda and Edwin!


The background paper that I chose for this card is by Moxxie, called "Engagement." It is a double-sided paper, though I used only the circle side.
The bride and groom are stamped onto a cold press watercolor paper that I have lying around the house. I stamped with Black Versafine ink, and this is my first attempt at coloring with Distress Ink. I added a little Prismacolor pencil enhancement, and used Stickles for Tilda's veil and Edwin's buttons. To mount, I cut around the finished image, and used foam mounting tape to attach it to a circle cut from the same water color paper. MS eyelet punch on white card, cut into segments and attached to the edge of the circle, adds a delicate scallop edge.

The sentiment, "forever and beyond," is inscribed in our wedding rings, so I thought it was so appropriate for this card; it is printed from the computer onto cream card, and mounted on a scrap of embossed silver paper. The flowers are from A.C. Moore, and I sponged a little ink on them, but it is hard to see.
